First place for Schramm Öhler in the recent rankings by Legal 500, Chambers and JUVE

For many years "The Legal 500" consistently ranks us amongst the best Austrian law firms in the fields of “Public Procurement“, “IT and Telecommunications“ and “Real Estate and Construction“. As in the last four years, the latest issue (Launch 16. April 2016) also considers us the best Austrian law firm in “Public Procurement“:

“Primarily acting for contracting authorities, ‘excellent, down-to-earth’ firm Schramm Öhler Rechtsanwälte assisted ÖBB-Personenverkehr with several rail transport services procurement procedures and acted for Vienna Hospital Association to procure mobile telecoms service provision. Gregor Stickler has ‘great market knowledge’ and is recommended along with the ‘experienced’ Matthias Öhler and Johannes Schramm.” (Legal 500)

“Public procurement boutique Schramm Öhler Rechtsanwälte combines the ‘most convincing individuals, the highest knowledge and professionalism’. The team, which routinely works for public entities in complex public procurement matters, specialises in construction, healthcare and IT mandates. Clients include the Austrian Parliament, Austrian Development Agency and Wiener Linien. Georg Zellhofer and Matthias Öhler are ‘outstanding’, as is ‘acknowledged authority’ Johannes Schramm.” (Legal 500)

Furthermore, we are delighted to be awarded with the first place in the field of “Public Procurement Austria” by “Chambers and Partners” again in 2017.

“(The team) enjoys a fantastic reputation for advising on public procurement work. Developing presence on infrastructure projects and in work for state-owned corporations, and maintains a strong footprint in the energy and IT sectors. Johannes Schramm is one of the biggest names in the country for public procurement law." (Chambers)

“What the team is known for : Exceptional niche firm with an outstanding track record in public procurement. Advises on both domestic and cross-border tender procedures. Client base consists of publicly owned companies and contracting authorities. Has a distinct focus on the healthcare, IT and transportation sectors. Also increasingly active in PPP projects.

Strengths : Sources highlight quick and practical advice. "The team is super-reliable," they say, adding that the lawyers are also "extremely diligent," and that "we always get responses in time, even if something is very urgent, and their statements are always well reasoned and very helpful." "The advice the firm offers doesn't just cover legal expertise but also business understanding and market knowledge," observes one client, going on to say that "the team has many experts in procurement law and all members of the firm are extremely committed and helpful." (Chambers)

JUVE magazine called us “one of the leading law firms in procurement law”, and ranks us with the first place in their procurement law ranking. In addition to our general strength in complex award procedures, Dr. Matthias Öhler was particularly mentioned as highly professional and pleasant to work with.

“Assessment: The law firm is known as one of the leading law firms in procurement law. It is primarily consulting public authorities in the fields IT, social affairs and infrastructure. The project on the procurement of the nationwide electronic tolling system for trucks in Austria for the Austrian State Motorway Operating Company (ASFINAG) has led to the cross-border cooperation with PwC Legal on the procurement of the operation of the German truck tolling system as of summer 2018. This project uses the capacity of the team to a large extent. However, furthermore the review in several transnational ICT R&D projects on behalf of the European Commission (as e.g. the development of energy efficient High performance Computers) has raised the international reputation of the law firm. At the same time, the law firm is firmly established with local public authorities. E.g. for the public utility housing society of Vienna, the law firm is involved in the project “new community housing apartments” including the construction of 200.000 new community housing apartments.

Strengths: “complex procurement projects” (Juve)
